This auction is for a 1987 Kubicki Ex Factor electric bass with a hard-shell case.
I bought this bass new at a music store in 1987. I bought another 5-string bass shortly
after purchasing this one so I put the Kubicki in the closet and it has hardly been used
since. This bass has spent most of its life in the case so it is in excellent
shape. If you like to "D" tune your "E" string almost
instantaneously, without changing string tension and without having to transpose, then the
Ex Factor is the bass for you. Here are some of its features:
- Hybrid passive and electronic circuitry
- Concentric volume/pan, & bass boost/treble boost knobs with 6-position rotary selector switch
- Special humcancellingTM pickups
- Attractive Porche yellow Urethane finish with black hardware
- Alder wood body
- "Headless" neck is laminated with 37 pieces of rotary-cut maple veneer
- Ebony fretboard with 23 frets
- Kubicki special design bridge
- Tuning machines (80 to 1 ratio) are part of the bridge so strings are strung from nut to bridge
- E string has extender (spring-loaded string clasp) for low D
This is an amazingly well-engineered instrument. This is the Cadillac of basses as far as ease of playing
goes. The case is a Fender-style case. For more information about Kubicki basses,
